Economic Development
Jones remains committed to serving as an advocate for economic development within her community. For the past seven years, she has partnered with the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce to highlight the unrecognized value of New Kings Road. On Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 6:00 PM at SA Hull Elementary School (7528 Hull Street), Councilwoman Mia Jones will hold a community meeting to discuss the Corridor Redevelopment Plan, the Vision and Master Plan, along with recommended Public & Private Projects.
Happy 232nd Birthday America!
On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day, thousands leave their homeland to come to the "land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin their American Dream.
This dream has helped to make the U.S. a diverse nation. Celebrate this freedom, diversity, and independence with area citizens. The City of Jacksonville is hosting a FREE concert at Metro Park, ice skating at the Arena ($2 from 10 AM – 5 PM), a police escorted motorcycle ride (beginning at 2:30 PM with a cost of $35 each rider / $15 passenger) and, of course, fireworks above the St. Johns River (9:45 PM). Call 630-CITY for more information.
