After much prayer and consideration, I have made the decision to run for the open State House seat in District 14, which is being vacated, due to term limits. My goal is to provide a seamless transition for my constituents with quality representation focused on improving their quality of life through “PROVEN RESULTS”. This legislative seat will allow me to do just that, since it includes the overwhelming majority of my council district.
I am currently serving my second term on the Jacksonville City Council, but early in my political career, I recognized the importance of leveraging City and State funding, to ensure that the needs of my constituents were met. This required me to interact with the State Legislature and lobby for funding to assist with various projects in my district, and it was well worth it because it allowed me to leverage $1.5 million of State funding into almost $15 million in capital improvements for my district, so I know what it takes to get the job done.
As I continue this campaign, I look forward to meeting you and ultimately earning your support and your vote on August 26, 2008.
Sincerely,
"Mia"
